We Slept it Off!

Well, our stay-cation was the rainiest week we ever had off together...ever!!  We had one day of sun, which was on our son's 13th birthday.  That in itself was a wonderful blessing.  One day, we all piled in the car and let the kids tell us where to turn.  We wound up headed north.  Just this side of Kentucky, my husband said he prefers the beach; so we turned around without even telling the kids.  It was so funny to hear them mention sights they thought we had passed within the last hour.  Another hour, and we were excitedly on our way to sandy waves without even a beach towel in the car.  Then, the thought occurred to us...what if it's raining there too?  We stopped for ice creams and looked up the forecast.  Every direction we headed that day, was in the line of storms and heavy rains for the next few days.  Sadly, we accepted the reality to go back home.  Still we had fun; and the car ride was filled with praise songs and goofy kids.  By the time we got to the house everyone was stir crazy and silly.  There was giggling and wrestling for the remainder of the evening.

Sooo our Vacation went from a planned trip to a beach, to a stay-cation at home with plans for drive in's, swimming pools and fun games in the yard. Nothing we planned, worked out.  What did work out was rest - a lot of it.  Not much got accomplished.  Each day we slept in, unsure of what the day would bring because of the weather. What we did have was amazing time with each other.  No one was preoccupied with driving or planning.  It reminded me of the 7th day.  God was busy for 6 days and on the 7th day he rested.  In the 7th year let the land rest.  I have to tell you, it was fine to not be caught up with the business of a trip and just let the family "be."   Although I will say, I cannot "like" anymore beach pics on Facebook - winky winky ;)

The Last of My Fast

I know I shared with you about the 21 day fast I recently did.  I struggled with circumstances in which I decided it better to stop after only 14 days. This was difficult for me and I have not been able to let it go in my mind.  I don't know how much good it will do for me now, but I just have to finish what I started.  I still have a week left that I must fast.  I know with my whole heart that I will not hunger if this is God's will.

Family Staycation

Don't laugh, but we are on vacation and we are getting very silly.  If you know our family, you know how creative and goofy when it comes to our times together.

We lost the last vacation due to a change some plans with friends.  Then we lost our vacation trip this time, because we found out a day ago, family is coming any day now.  This doesn't stop us at all!  So every day that we do a daily vacation adventure, we are going to pretend it's some elaborate exotic trip that some only dream of.  We are having a blast, actually, just clinging to each other.  In fact, one of our Facebook friends said she hoped we got to go someplace great.  I could only say it was the greatest place on earth, right into my husband's loving arms!!

The vacation actually started Thursday night.  From then until Sunday we had some friends doggies, cut grass with another friend and helped out with some children at church.  Our imagined trip for this was Maine.  We helped with some hillside clearing for an animal rescue; then fostered some precious healthy pups for an upcoming even, and managed a lovely weekend ministry camp for children.

Today, we shopped for our amazing eldest son's 13th birthday, and visited an area camp and lake site with beach and swimming.  The imagined travel was shopping in Paris and a long leg to the Amazon for gator wrestling in the river.  Funnnnn!!!

Yep, we have fun.  Yes we are silly, and I can assure you there is never a dull moment.  Tonight we will sit on the deck with our sound machine...you decide ocean waves, big Ben, train travel, creekside camping.  You pick and we will enjoy any atmosphere you choose.  How fun is that.  Just don't send up "up the river"  haha!!
I hope to update during breaks between adventures.  Love to all!
